WEDCLIC FIELD NOTE · 01 / 2026

What guests actually upload at a wedding.

An early, open benchmark from real product activity—published with the awkward numbers, the missing fields and the methodology intact.

THE SHORT VERSION

The phone is already the camera. The collection system is the missing piece.

the tiny detail
that changes everything ↘

Among uploads where a device was recorded, 86% came from mobile. QR codes accounted for 56.7% of uploads where a source was known. Video made up 7.8% of all contributed media.

Those numbers support a simple product decision: make the guest journey browser-first, keep the QR instruction obvious, and accept video without adding a second workflow.

THE GUEST JOURNEY

A guest sees the sign

Keep it near a natural pause: the bar, guestbook or table.

UPLOAD ROUTE

QR was the leading known source—not the only source.

Of the 901 uploads with source data, 511 were attributed to QR and 390 to a direct route. Another 197 older records had no source value and are excluded from the percentage.

WHY THIS BEHAVIOUR MAKES SENSE

Guests do not need another camera—or another account.

Pew Research Center reports that 91% of US adults own a smartphone. Ofcom reports that most UK online time is spent on smartphones. The infrastructure is already in every guest’s pocket; the challenge is reducing the steps between taking and contributing a photo.

READ THIS BEFORE QUOTING

A deliberately conservative methodology.

Included

All 1,098 non-deleted media records present in WedClic’s production database at the 6 September 2026 snapshot.

Privacy

Only aggregate counts were analysed. No names, messages, photos, email addresses or individual galleries were reviewed.

Known gaps

197 older uploads lacked device and source tracking. Percentages for those dimensions use only the 901 known records.

Limitation

This is early product activity, not a representative survey of all weddings. The 42 active galleries may include tests or pre-wedding trials.

You may cite these findings as “WedClic product activity, September 2026” with a link to this page. Do not describe the sample as 42 completed weddings.

THE PRACTICAL NEXT STEP

Test the guest journey before the wedding.

Create a gallery, scan the real QR code and ask one person to upload from their own phone. If they need an explanation, simplify the sign—not the guest.
